About

Hello The Internet! I am Jason Crowder. I am a teacher who lives in St. Charles, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis. I am blessed with a wonderful and talented wife, Sarah, who is a marvelous photographer. www.crowderphotos.com is where you will find examples of her beautiful work. I also have two fantastic children, who I love very much.

Over the last couple of years I have found myself cooking more and more, while my wife has been busy on evening photo shoots. Additionally, last year I lost about 50 pounds which made me more aware of what I was eating, and also with reduced caloric intake, I am more focused on making sure what I eat actually tastes good. No more mindless gorging on garbage for me thank you!

So, why should you spend your valuable time reading this? Well, I am focusing on three things in this blog: First, my relationship with food. I’m not the world’s finest cook, or an experienced critic, however, I would like to share my thoughts and experiences on food with others.

Second, the blog is called St. Loueats. So, I will be reviewing and posting on the food scene here in the St. Louis area. I find that the St. Louis food experience has really improved over the last few years, and that is something that should be shared with others. Furthermore, I am a proud St. Louisan, and I feel that our fair burg gets a bad rap nationally. We are NOT Scarymurderville, and I would like to play a small part in letting people know that.

Finally, I am constantly shocked by what kids eat. I see school lunches 175 days a year, and it is a field of brown, processed junk. While I understand that parents are pressed for time, I have been committed to teaching kids gardening and cooking. This year, I plan on being even more active in teaching kids about food, and I thought I’d share my experiences here.
